Leah Sechrist, born March 10, 1846 in York County, PA, was the 4th oldest child and oldest daughter of John Sechrist and Susan Frey.  She married Emauel Stabley and they resided in North Hopewell Twp and later in life in Red Lion, York County, PA.  According to the biographical sketch of their son George Emanuel Stabley in the History of York County, Pennsylvania, Volume 2 by George Powell in 1907, Emanuel was a cabinetmaker by trade, he devoted his attention to the same as a vocation for a time, but for many years he owned and operated the Stabley sawmill, one-half mile southwest of Felton.

Leah and Emanuel were the parents of nine children, who were named John, Ida, Annie, Lydia, George, Minnie, Bertha, Carrie and an unnamed infant son.  The names and dates of births of all the children are verified by a family bible that has been scanned in Ancestry.com.  Also scanned into Ancestry.com is a copy of the dates of death for most of these Stabley’s.  Leah passed away in 1904 and Emanuel in 1915, and both are buried at Lebanon Lutheran Cemetery in North Hopewell Twp, York County, PA.
