3. Henry Sechrist

Henry Sechrist, born April 22, 1809 in York County, PA, was the 3rd child and oldest son of Henry Sechrist and Anna Magdalena Flinchbaugh.  He married Mary Yohe and they resided in York Twp, York County, PA.  According to the biographical sketch of Jacob H Sechrist, Henry’s son, in the History of York County, Pennsylvania, Volume 2 by George Powell in 1907, Henry followed in his father’s footsteps and successfully engaged in farming and distilling.  In looking at Shearer’s 1860 Map of York County, Henry’s house and farm was located along the north side of Chapel Church Rd.

Henry and Mary were the parents of at least twelve children, who were named Caroline, Henry, Adam, Charles, Jacob, John, William, Peter, Frank, Mary, Emanuel, and Catharine.  Henry passed away in 1883 and Mary in 1870, and both are buried at Dallastown Union Cemetery.
