History and Biography of Michael Sechrist

Michael Sechrist was the 6th child and third son of Francis Sechrist and Veronica Feiser.  He was born around 1768 in York County.  Sometime around 1790, he married Barbara Pfister.  We know that Barbara was his wife until at least 1806, because when Barbara’s father Jacob died in that year it lists his son-in-law as Michael Sechrist.  Sometime between this time frame and his death in 1832, Barbara likely passed away as Michael’s will lists his wife’s name as Catherine.

Michael and his family lived near his father and brothers John and William in the Windsor Township/North Hopewell Township area.  In looking at a property survey that his brother John had done, Michael owned land to the east/southeast of where his father lived.  Census records indicated that he lived in North Hopewell Twp. his entire adult life.

His will and estate records also indicate that he had 7 children.  His son’s are listed as Michael and William.  His daughters are listed as Susan who was a widow (but her deceased spouse was not named), Catherine wife of Barney Clements, Christina wife of Philip Grim, Eve wife of John Householder and Barbara.  Michael’s will also mentions that his daughter Christina was married before she married Philip Grim and had a son by the name of Charles Hildebrand

Michael Sechrist born around 1768 in York County, PA, and died in April 3, 1832.  He married (first) Barbara Pfister born around 1765 in York County, PA and died unknown.  Next, he married (second) Catherine.
