1. Catherine Ann Miller

Catharine Ann, the oldest daughter and child of Jacob and Anna Maria was born on May 25,
1843. She was baptized by Reverend John Reinika, who was a Reformed pastor in the Freysville
Union Church. She married Jacob T. Flinchbaugh, who was the son of John Flinchbaugh and Rebecca Tyson. The Flinchbaugh family is another well-known colonial family in the southern portions of York and Windsor townships. They lived in Windsor Township on what is now White Oak Road, which is about 1.5 miles north of Windsor borough. Catharine and Jacob were the parents of six children, who were from youngest to oldest, Sarah, David, Elizabeth, Jacob M, John and Vincent.

Jacob M. Flinchbaugh, who was elected as a State Representative for the Red Lion/Dallastown area to the PA House of Representatives, is also well-known as a Flinchbaugh family historian, having wrote a booklet to detail the history of that family in York County, PA.  Many people believe the M. for his middle initial stands for Melchior, possibly because Melchior was the progenitor of the Flinchbaugh’s in York County and Jacob compiled the Flinchbaugh booklet.  However, his death certificate lists his middle name as Miller, which makes sense since it was very common in those times for children to use their mother’s maiden name for a middle name.

Jacob T. Flinchbaugh passed away on April 11, 1894. Catharine remained in the family home for several years, raising the children. Sometime in the early 1900’s Catharine moved into Red Lion, residing on North Main St. Catharine passed away May 5, 1921 in Red Lion and both her and Jacob T. are buried together in Freysville Cemetery in Windsor Twp.
